What is Elai?

Elai is an AI video generator that turns scripts, slides, articles or links into presenter-led videos featuring digital avatars and synthetic voices. The site states that Elai is now part of Panopto, the video platform widely used in education and corporate training. Its main audience is learning and development teams, trainers and marketers who need explainer, onboarding or course videos without cameras, studios or presenters.

Key Features of Elai

AI avatars and custom presenters

Users can choose from 80+ stock avatars or create their own: a selfie avatar recorded on a phone, or a studio-quality avatar from professional footage. Two avatars can appear on the same slide for dialogue-style training scenarios.

Voices, cloning and translation

The library covers 75+ languages and hundreds of accents and voices. You can clone your own voice in 28 languages and translate a finished video into another language in one step.

AI Storyboard and content conversion

AI Storyboard drafts a script and course outline from a prompt, link or document. Separate converters turn PowerPoint files, blog articles or URLs into narrated video slides.

Interactive video

Branching paths, buttons, hotspots and quizzes let learners choose their own route through a video, and analytics track views and watch time.

Production extras

A built-in screen recorder, templates, stock media, auto-captions, an API and SCORM export for learning management systems on Enterprise round out the toolset.

Elai Pricing

Elai charges in US dollars by video minutes rendered per month, and minutes are deducted when a video is rendered. Annual billing saves about 20%. Custom avatars and voices are also sold separately: a studio avatar costs $500 per year, a selfie avatar $199 per year and voice cloning $200 per year.

Prices checked on October 27, 2026; check the official pricing page for current plans.

Who Should Use Elai?

Elai is best suited to corporate trainers, HR and onboarding teams, e-learning designers and course creators who publish a steady stream of talking-head lessons. Marketing teams can use it for product explainers and personalized video campaigns, and global companies benefit from one-click translation when the same training must reach several regions. Organizations already using Panopto may find the integration particularly convenient.

Is Elai Worth It?

Elai covers the full training-video workflow, from outline to narrated, interactive video, and its PPTX conversion and quiz features fit L&D teams better than many general-purpose avatar tools. The free plan allows a quick test, and the Creator plan is reasonably priced for occasional use.

The limits are mostly about volume and add-ons. Fifteen minutes a month on Creator goes quickly for course production, many brand and collaboration features sit on the much pricier Team plan, and custom avatars or voice clones are extra unless you choose annual Team or Enterprise. Avatar videos also still look synthetic in places, which may matter for customer-facing content. For training teams that want to replace slide decks with narrated video at scale, Elai is a strong candidate; light users might find the minute caps restrictive.
