What is Logically?

Logically, which was previously known as Afforai, is an AI workspace for academic and professional research. It brings together a document writer, a reference manager, a PDF annotator and an AI research assistant, so students and researchers can collect sources, read and mark them up, ask questions about them and write a cited paper in one place.

It is built mainly for university students, academics, law and medical students and anyone producing citation-heavy writing who would otherwise combine a reference manager, a note-taking app and a separate AI chatbot.

Key Features of Logically

AI Document Writer

An editor with AI autosuggest continues your text and attaches relevant citations, while the bibliography is generated automatically in any of more than 10,000 citation styles. Documents can be written collaboratively.

Reference Manager

Sources can be uploaded or imported from other reference managers and organised with folders and tags. Supported formats include PDF, EPUB, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, Markdown, URLs and DOIs, with automatic metadata extraction.

File Annotator

PDFs and other references can be highlighted and annotated in several colours, and annotations can be inserted straight into your documents. Logically AI can explain difficult passages.

AI Research Assistant

A chat assistant answers questions based on your own uploaded papers and references, returning citation-backed responses so you can check where each claim came from.

Mini Tools

Smaller utilities include a citation generator, paraphraser, grammar checker, summariser, conclusion generator, AI text detector, text humaniser and word counter.

Logically Pricing

Logically has a free plan and two paid tiers. The prices below are the yearly rates; monthly billing is also available at a higher rate, and prices are shown in USD with local currency offered at checkout.

Prices checked on October 27, 2026; check the official pricing page for current plans.

Paid plans include a 30-day money-back guarantee. Logically also runs an in-app offer: completing the short product tours unlocks a discount coupon, which becomes 50% off the first payment for users signing up with a recognised university email (other users receive 10%). See the official Logically pricing page for details.

Who Should Use Logically?

  • Undergraduate and graduate students writing essays, theses and literature reviews.
  • Academics who want references, annotations and drafts in a single tool.
  • Law, nursing and medical students handling large volumes of reading.
  • Research teams that need shared libraries and collaborative documents.
  • Anyone moving away from a combination of Zotero or Mendeley plus a chatbot.

Is Logically Worth It?

Logically is good value for people who would otherwise pay for several separate research tools. The Unlimited plan is inexpensive on yearly billing, the student discount is generous, and grounding AI answers in your own library makes the output easier to verify than a general chatbot.

The free plan is quite restricted, with five AI actions of each type per day, small storage and watermarked PDF exports, so it works best as a trial. The Frontier plan is aimed at power users and costs considerably more. As with any AI writing aid, students should check their institution's rules on AI use. Visit the official Logically website to try it.
