SpeechifyAI
SpeechifyAI is Speechify's text-to-speech API with Simba models, streaming, SSML and voice cloning in up to 48 languages, built for developers adding voice to their products.

What is SpeechifyAI?
SpeechifyAI is the developer platform from Speechify, the company known for its text-to-speech reading app. Instead of a consumer reader, SpeechifyAI offers an API that lets developers generate natural-sounding speech and clone voices inside their own products. It runs on Speechify's in-house Simba model family, with Simba 3.5 covering 48 languages, Simba 3.2 focused on English and Simba 3.0 supporting six languages.
It is designed for developers and product teams building voice features: narration, accessibility tools, voice assistants, customer-support bots and content platforms. Note that it is billed separately from the Speechify Reader app, so a Reader subscription does not include API usage.
Key Features of SpeechifyAI
Simba text-to-speech models
All plans can call every model, from the multilingual Simba 3.5 to the English-focused Simba 3.2. You choose the model per request, and each one bills at its own per-character rate.
Low-latency streaming
Speech can be streamed as it is generated, which matters for real-time voice apps. Speechify publishes its own measured time-to-first-byte figures for its US East production path and is careful to describe them as observations rather than guarantees.
Voice cloning
Paid plans can create custom voices from samples, so a brand or creator can keep a consistent voice across content. Pro and higher plans have no per-plan cap on cloned voices.
SSML and developer tooling
SSML tags give control over pronunciation and pacing, and SSML markup is not counted toward billable characters. Documentation, a quickstart and a web console for keys, billing and usage are provided.
Transparent dollar-based billing
Each plan adds a monthly balance in dollars that is drawn down at a published rate per million characters. Paid plans can top up and continue past the allowance, while auto top-up stays off until you enable it.
SpeechifyAI Pricing
SpeechifyAI has a free tier and three self-serve monthly plans with no annual commitment, plus custom enterprise contracts. Simba 3.0 and 3.2 bill at $10, $8 and $6 per million characters on Starter, Pro and Scale. Simba 3.5 lists at double those rates but is billed at the lower launch price until 21 November 2026, which is the current public promotion.
Voice agents are sold separately as an enterprise product with contract pricing. Unused monthly balance does not roll over, but purchased top-ups do not expire.
Prices checked on October 27, 2026; check the official pricing page for current plans.
Who Should Use SpeechifyAI?
- Developers adding narration or read-aloud features to apps and websites.
- Teams building real-time voice assistants or support bots that need streaming speech.
- Publishers and e-learning platforms converting large volumes of text to audio.
- Products that need multilingual speech across many markets.
Is SpeechifyAI Worth It?
For developers who want capable text-to-speech at predictable per-character prices, SpeechifyAI is a strong contender. The free 500K-character monthly allowance with no card is generous for prototyping, the paid tiers are inexpensive per character, and the dollar-based balance makes costs easy to calculate. Speechify also publishes dated benchmark and latency data with caveats, which is more transparent than many vendors.
There are limitations. It is an API, not a ready-made app, so you need development work to use it. Simba 3.5 will cost more per character after the launch period ends, the free tier stops when its allowance runs out, and voice agents require an enterprise deal. If you only want to listen to documents yourself, the Speechify Reader app is the more suitable product. For building speech into software, SpeechifyAI is worth testing on the free plan.
